Government College of Arts and Science Karambakkudi, Pudukkottai District, was started by the former Chief Minister J. JAYALALITHAA in the village of Maruthankonviduthi.

Admission of students of this college was commenced on 01.07.2013. The first classes were conducted on 13.09.2013 after the inauguration by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Initially Five Under Graduate Departments

  • B.A., Tamil (Tamil Medium)
  • B.A., English (English Medium)
  • B.Com., Commerce (English Medium)
  • B.Sc., Mathematics (English Medium)
  • B.Sc., Computer Science (English Medium)

After that Two Post Graduate Courses

  • M.A. -Tamil (Tamil Medium)
  • M.Com. - Commerce (English Medium) were introduced in the academic year 2018-2019.

Recently Two Undergraduate Courses

  • B.Sc., Physics (English Medium)
  • B.Sc., Chemistry (English Medium) are being taught from the academic year 2019-2020.

In the LOGO, the name of the college is engraved in a circular shape like a gateway. The golden rice husks show their pride in admiring the agricultural people of this soil. Adding pride to the architectural excellence of this college, the main block of this college has pointed out. The map of Tamil Nadu, the laptop symbol and the students graduate image has added to explore the visionary plans of education of Tamilnadu. The Bharathiyar's quote “Tamil Nadu excels in Education” has mentioned at the base of the LOGO. The year 2013 marks the year the college was started.
